(DRAFT) VOTERS UNION BYLAWS AND MISSION
STATEMENT
Revised August 27, 2008
I. The Voters Union of Mendocino County is a
nonpartisan organization of environmentalists for cannabis decriminalization.
a) Registered voters of Mendocino County,
political campaign workers and contributors commit to Campaigns, Platforms
and these Bylaws and thereby qualify as members.
b). No candidate for public office
in Mendocino County may have membership priveleges in the VU during their
respective campaigns.
II. a) The Primary Mission of the Voters Union of Mendocino
County is to obtain, wield and increase local political power for and by
its members.
b) The Secondary Mission of the Voters Union
of Mendocino County is to take office in the existing government,
and to administer its institutions to realize our values within our lifetime,
or to institute new government, laying its foundation on such
principles and organizing its powers in such form as shall seems most likely
to effect such realization.
III. a) The Primary Objective of the Voters Union is
to continually replace Mendocino County supervisors until the board is entirely
occupied by true environmentalist freedom defenders.
b) The Secondary Objective of the Voters Union of Mendocino
County is to empower marginalized populations and enable them to assume their
equal status as voting and/or participating citizens here. Among these are
cannabis identified residents, Native Americans, Chinese people and Latinos
of Mendocino County..
IV. The Voters Union will adopt Platforms to
advance our mission and recruit candidates for local office who commit to
enact such Platforms if elected.
V. The policies of the Voters Union include
a) The Ten Key Values of the Green Party
of California
b) Such Platforms as may be adopted
from time to time in specific local campaigns;
c) The cultivation and use of cannabis shall
be protected in Mendocino County.
d) Mendocino County should be a bilingual,
bicultural jurisdiction embracing both the English speaking US and the Spanish
speaking Mexican populations.
VI. The Voters Union will support a candidate
only to the extent that they continually affirm allegiance to the adopted
Voters Union Platform in all their public speech and actions. The Platform
is primary, the candidate is secondary.
VII: Richard Johnson of Ukiah is the founder of the
Voters Union and shall attend all meetings of the Union as long as he is
able.
IIIX: Decisions of the Voters Union shall only be by
consensus of its members expressed in a general membership meeting.
IX: The assets of the Voters Union consist of the goodwill
of its constituents, the constituent contact data documents and such bank
accounts as it shall establish.
X: The Voters Union shall obey all pertinent campaign
laws including Fair Political Practices regulations and campaign finance
reporting requirements.
