HUNDREDS OCCUPY UKIAH AND FORT BRAGG

            Annie Esposito

OCCUPY AMERICA has come to Mendocino County, with notable demonstrations in Fort Bragg and Ukiah.  October 19th In Fort Bragg, protesters went to the Farmers' Market to support small local business and then on to Congressmember Mike Thompson's office.  The event was followed up with an Occupy Fort Bragg Banks presence and subsequent planning meetings.  There was a demo in Ukiah on October 18th followed by a larger one the next day.   October 19th in Ukiah, 250 people rallied in front of the court house, marched to Chase, Bank of America, Umpqua, and Wells Fargo - then marched through the Pumpkinfest for good measure.  The Ukiah protest involved people from Willits, Redwood Valley, Potter  Valley, and Anderson Valley.  There are ongoing 'General Assemblies' in Alex Thomas Plaza on Saturday mornings at 10 am and Wednesday evenings at 6.  There will be events around November 5th Bank Transfer Day and another march is slated for November 12, starting at the Ukiah court house.  For more information, go to http://occupyukiah.org or contact Jim Houle at jfh@willitsonline.com.   On the coast, contact John Fremont at john@cypresshouse.com to get on the mailing list.
