Blue Ribbon Task Force of the Marine Life Protection Act Initative, C.V. Starr Community Center, 300 S. Lincoln St. 9am all day. Will receive external MLPA arrays from local groups. A peaceful demonstration has been announced by John Lewallen. Judith Vidaver has proposed an innovative approach that would allow fishing but exclude all extractive commercial uses deleterious to the ecosystem such as offshore oil drilling within the 3 mile limit of the North Coast study area.

3-Day Ecology Action GROW BIOINTENSIVESM Sustainable Mini-Farming Workshop an in-depth study of GROW BIOINTENSIVE Mini-Farming appropriate to a more self-reliant lifestyle and for work in developing countries. The program will consist of lecture, discussion and demonstration, and will include a full range of information on Sustainability and Efficient Resource Use, Crops and Diet, Fertilization, Compost and Compost Crops, Soil Preparation and Preservation, Seed Propagation, and Income, as well as the perspective to tie all these together.

The public is invited to tour the Occidental Arts & Ecology Center on Saturday, March 20. This tour begins at 1 PM and will run approximately 1.5 hrs in duration. Tour participants will be introduced to the Center and our organic gardens. Sturdy shoes, brimmed hat or warm layers (depending on weather), and personal water bottles are recommended.             Seventh Annual Willits Walk for Health starts at 9:15am with registration at J.D. Redhouse Mercantile on Main Street. One “gem” along the walk route is the Willits Permaculture Demonstration Park on city land near 284 Redwood Avenue .

             The purpose of the project is to show, that at a time of increasing food costs, people can grow food crops, along with beautiful plants, in a small area.

   The Demonstration Park includes 13 kinds of trees including apple, pear, cherry, nectarine, and peach; 8 kinds of shrubs including coffee berry, rock rose, lavender, and rosemary; 28 kinds of plants including artichoke, asparagus, rhubarb, comfrey, potatoes, parsnip, chives, and Jerusalem artichoke.
